How we activate the world's most prestigious award at Oslo Airport
Da Nobel Peace Center wanted to establish an installation on Oslo Airport, the goal was clear: The Peace Prize's message should reach travelers as they arrive in Norway.
NPG was given the responsibility of developing the solution in one of the country's most complex and exposed public spaces.
The installation is located in the arrivals area for both domestic and international travelers, and will be in place from February 2026 to February 2029. With around 30 million travelers annually, Oslo Airport is one of Norway's most significant communication arenas.
Strong international brand
The Nobel Peace Prize is one of Norway's strongest international brands. The challenge has been to maintain the weight and dignity of the symbol, while also making it work in a busy arrivals hall.
Through physical design, the history and values of the Peace Prize are translated into an experience that:
- Stand out in a busy arrivals hall
- Maintains the dignity and authority of the symbol
- Is integrated into the passenger flow
- Withstands three years of continuous exposure
The replica of the medal is plated with Fairmined gold and supplied by Samlerhuset and the Norwegian Mint, the same manufacturer that makes the original Peace Prize medals.

This is an example of how physical design can be used as a strategic tool at the intersection of branding, social mission, and high-traffic areas.
From transit to destination
– We want to give travelers a small encounter with what is called the world's most prestigious prize, and hope that this inspires more people to visit the Nobel Peace Center and learn more about the work of the peace laureates, says Kim Reksten Grønneberg, Communications and Marketing Director at the Nobel Peace Center.
Strategic activation
The project shows how strong brands can be strategically activated in high-traffic public spaces, where context, timing and physical presence are crucial.
This is precisely where NPG's role becomes clear: using physical design as a strategic tool in the meeting between brand, social mission and audience.
