About the project
On September 23, 2022, VPK celebrated the opening of its high-tech corrugated cardboard factory in Halden. The factory is built with cutting-edge technology and uses artificial intelligence and automation. VPK, a global supplier of corrugated cardboard from recycled paper fibers, originally opened the factory in 2020, but the pandemic postponed the official VPK factory opening. This created extra engagement and expectations for the celebration.
Our role
NPG Event assisted with the concept development, planning and execution of the VPK factory opening, inspired by technology, nature, growth and sustainability – values that also reflect VPK’s vision. To highlight the connection between the cardboard life cycle and VPK’s core business, NPG Event developed a unique scenography and entrance portal for the VPK factory opening. Designed by Darien Sasic Barisa, the concept consisted of a “forest” of cardboard trees, created to show the versatility and circle of life of cardboard, with the raw material wood taking center stage.
Incorporating elements of the Nordic landscape, layered to cast shadows, the scenography became a living representation of VPK’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. The interplay of light effects and shadows added depth, creating a dynamic atmosphere that visually anchored VPK’s values and mission. The factory opening was not just a ceremony—it became a statement of VPK’s dedication to future technology and sustainability.
The Result
The VPK factory opening marked an important step for the company and was celebrated with a ribbon cutting, factory tour and an evening for employees. The scenography created an atmosphere of Nordic landscapes, deep shadows and dynamics, which visually anchored VPK's core business. NPG Event's contribution ensured a successful implementation and strengthened the community among employees, while marking the company's further journey in innovation and sustainability.
